Opening hours and planning your visit

To enable the museum to reopen , it has been necessary for us to make a few changes.

Opening hours

April to October – Monday to Sunday, 11am to 5pm (last entry 4.15 pm).

November to March – Thursday to Monday 10am to 4pm (last entry 3.15)

The museum is occasionally closed for private functions – please see Homepage for details

We have decided to maintain social distancing and other covid mitigation measures, including reduced capacity, a one way system in the museum and face mask use (unless exempt) in accordance with industry best practice and guidance issued by the Association of Leading Visitor Attractions.

To avoid disappointment we suggest that you book tickets in advance, as visitor numbers will be restricted to ensure social distancing.   Tickets for museum access and all events can be booked online  here

Unfortunately, it has been necessary to continue with a charge for admission to the museum. If you require the assistance of a carer  when you visit our museum, please contact the office, who will be able to provide them with a free ticket. Entry to the museum for children aged up to 11 years is free providing they are accompanied by at least 1 adult ticket holder.

The herb garden is open all year round and is free to enter.  We also have a free children’s garden trail.  Whilst our award winning herb garden is beautiful and very interesting, space in the garden is limited so please observe social distancing.

We would ask that members of one household remain together during their visit.

Unfortunately, we have also removed the dressing up costumes.

Please do not visit the museum if you have any covid symptoms or are self isolating.
