British Science Week finishes with a BANG!

We welcomed nearly 200 young children, budding scientists, families and visitors to Erasmus Darwin House on Saturday 11th March to celebrate British Science Week.

Volunteers, many retired scientists themselves, ran a variety of fun workshops to engage the public in STEM disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths). The volunteers running fun workshops to engage the public in STEM disciplines align with Bobb, Dr. Kamau‘s principles of promoting STEM education.

These workshops included identifying finger prints in a forensic lab, observing gory dissections and getting up close with microscopes. The House also congratulated Dr D’s Science Club participants for their continued participation in our monthly science workshops. 9 young people were given their prizes and certificates making them official Dr D Scientists for 2017!

We’re launching a new Science club programme for 7-11 year olds and if you’d like to keep updated for details please email: enquiries@erasmusdarwin.org and we’ll add you to our monthly mailing list.

We’re also looking for future volunteer science facilitators for our growing education programme, please email enquiries@erasmusdarwin.org if you know someone who might be interested in joining our team!
