Breaking Barriers:Women, Science & History

Over a century ago, the physicist Hertha Ayrton declared: “I do not agree with sex being brought into science at all.  The idea of “woman and science” is completely irrelevant.  Either a woman is a good scientist, or she is not”.  Her ideal vision of equality has still not been achieved, but putting women back into scientific history can help to explain modern attitudes.

Newtonianism for Ladies – Patricia Fara

Ada lovelace: The making of a Computer Scientist

Women of Excellent Understanding – Kate Croft

Jane Austen: Pleasures and Pastimes – Sarah Jane Downing
