Exhibition of Watercolour paintings by Ray Blundell – “Venice with a bit of Lichfield”
9th November 2021 @ 11:00 am - 4th January 2022 @ 4:00 pm
Based near Barton under Needwood, Ray is a recent member of the Lichfield Society of Artists, although he was elected a full member of the prestigious “Birmingham Watercolour Society” over 25 years ago. His work has been shown in many leading galleries including at the “Royal Institute of Painters Watercolours”, at the Mall Gallery, in London.
Now, following retirement and engaging in many other “hands on” projects (the latest is making brass watercolour paint boxes) he has taken up his brushes and is once again painting seriously.
Recently invited to offer work to the Birmingham based “Easel Club”, an historic and exclusive club, whose membership is strictly limited to 25 of the Midlands leading artists.
Ray sketches outdoors at least each week and in most weather, as he believes that drawing is the basis of good painting. A photo just doesn’t do it! The studio watercolours come later, mostly painted in the evening.
Preferring to capture human activity in the landscape and of course the play of light, this exhibition features the wonderful city of Venice, having visited there many times in the course of his day job!
Please enjoy the paintings – which will be on display in the Exhibition room until the new year.
