Erasmus Darwin House was originally restored with the help of money from the National Heritage and Regional Development Fund. However this does not contribute towards the continual running costs of the House, and income from admissions is not enough. The House gets annual grants from the City and District councils but constantly requires extra outside funding to keep afloat.

At least £50,000 per annum is required to remain solvent. The management of Erasmus Darwin House is working hard to find corporate sponsors. One source of income is the Friends' scheme. By becoming a Friend of Erasmus Darwin House you will add to the vital income. In return , a Friend will receive:-

• Free visits to the house;
• A regular newsletter;
• Reduced rate of hire of the seminar room - for either business or social meetings
• Invitation to the A.G.M. with guest speaker.
